Hi! I’m Nancy.

I’m a reporter and editor based in New York. For the past year, I’ve been writing features, breaking news and essays for the Culture desk at The New York Times, where I’m a member of the paper’s first fellowship class.

I’ve carved out a beat covering fan culture at The Times, from the thousands who descended on Manhattan for a Broadway fan convention to those who shelled out hundreds of dollars to witness Kanye West’s opera at Lincoln Center.

Before joining The Times, I edited and wrote for The Wall Street Journal, where I interviewed Disney diehards about their favorite pastime — conquering every Disney World ride in a single day — for an A-hed on the front page. I also spent a summer with CNN Digital’s trending team, writing about internet phenomena and breaking down the day’s news for a wider audience.

My roots are at the Columbia Missourian, where I cut my teeth in local journalism: I oversaw a team of copy editors, reported on education and state politics and worked on the graphics and community outreach desks.
